HULSKAMP SAW WORKS - INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA - 1992

The area around the Hulskamp store front had fallen upon hard times. There were several brick buildings that were falling apart at the seams. The mural had been covered up for decades by an adjacent building. The wrecking ball took care of that little detail. This was the last building standing. The entire block was surrounded with orange vinyl fencing, wooden barricades and no trespassing signs. These obstacles are best solved by arriving at sunrise on a Sunday morning. Surprise, surprise. I was met by an overzealous security guard. I offered the standard bribe consisting of doughnuts and coffee. That bought me a good half hour. The shot was fairly straight forward and I was out of there before my new friend, the security guard returned. I captured this image on my 8x10 Deardorff on Kodak Tri-X film.
