AMERICAN TRAIN CRANE - BAINBRIDGE, INDIANA - 2006

The spring had finally snuck past the short and cold days of winter. I loaded up the truck and headed west on Indiana route 36. Within an hour I found a very large train crane sitting on a set of abandoned tracks. This thing was a monster standing at around twelve feet high. I grabbed my ladder from the truck and set about to frame up the backside of the train. The locals were all starting to rubber neck at a comfortable distance. I worked fast as there was a railroad crew approaching in a large pickup truck riding on the rails. The second sheet of film was exposed when the crew let me know I needed to move on. They were nice and explained that the crane was being moved. All of the elements fell perfectly into place that day. I shot the image using an 8x20 view camera loaded with Berrger sheet film.
