SPUMONI SPRINGS - BERKSHIRE COUNTY, MASSACHUSETTS - 2008
I had seen this particular truck during the summer when the light was somewhat dull. The coming of the fall season resulted in the sun raking through the bare trees. Time was still not on my side. I was setting up my camera when a very old multi-primer toned tow truck pulled up and hooked a towline on the front of the ice cream truck. The driver of that large tow truck was not one for making small talk. He even went so far as to offer me some not so nice words of wisdom. This was one of those rare times when I pushed my luck a bit too far. Just as the situation was looking dismal, fate lent a hand. The tow truck shuttered while attempting to pull the ice cream truck away. Fate gave me just enough time to click the shutter two times. I had finished exposing my second sheet of film as smoke finally billowed from the two truck. The spumoni springs ice cream truck was now a memory destined for the scrap yard. I shot this image with an 8x20 view camera on Bergger 200 sheet film.
