KENNEDY HILTON OUTHOUSE - LAKE CHAPMAN, INDIANA 1998

Every summer the entire clan would head to the shores of Lake Chapman in Northern Indiana. We sought the tranquility found while staying at the family cabin we affectionately named the Kennedy Hilton. On this trip my mother and I made the two and a half hour trip with my stepfather and our fearless halfbreed dog Ginger. I knew the outhouse on the side of the cabin was on borrowed time. By the end of the summer the outhouse would be nothing more than a fleeting memory. This was the very first urban image I took using a 4x5 view camera. Of all the details of this shot, the dead fish head nailed to the upper door frame adds that special touch often found in images of urban decay. The image was shot on a 4x5 view camera using Tri-X sheet film.
